Michael Eng

In the late 1980's, the City Council of Monterey Park passed a law
forbidding foreign language signs as a knee jerk reaction
to the great number of Chinese immigrants and their businesses.
Mr. Eng sucessfully sued the City of Monterey Park, overturning that law.

Today he is a California State Assembly Member.
Previously he was elected as a Monterey Park City Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem,
thus showing all of us the importance and rewards of
standing up to unfair treatment and working hard
to become a part of America's legal and politcal process.
Can you name this street in Monterey Park where I made this portrait?
